He is Risen!

When Jesus Christ’s sister followers went mournfully to his tomb “on the first day of the week, very early in the morning … they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And [entering, they] found not the body of the Lord Jesus” (Luke 24:1-3). As they sobbed out their grief, two angels asked them, “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!” (Luke24:5-6). Joy beyond belief must have suffused those women, and that joy is ours today.

There is no more meaningful phrase than “He is risen!” Jesus Christ rose fully alive from death, and in so doing, makes it possible for us to rise from death as well.

I believe His message of redemption and eternal life also encourages us to rise in this life. No matter what our circumstances, we can commit to rise in love, rise in kindness, rise in charity and in offering others respect and civility. We can rise in purpose to live as our Savior has not only asked us to live, but has shown us by example. He who has atoned for our sins allows us the opportunity to repent and return to Him clean and pure. He gives us rising hope in life and hope for the future.

I am humbled with gratitude as I consider our Father’s overwhelming love for us in the form of our Savior, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Because of Jesus Christ: “In a coming day, fear will die; pain will die, loneliness will die; despair will die. In a coming day, sadness will die, sickness will die. Disability, deformity, darkness and anxiety will die. War will die. Hatred will die.

“In a coming day, death will die. And we all will live again because of Him!”*

For this I am eternally grateful.
