Recently the world was invited to hear sermons about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ in a special Easter broadcast. The two day event celebrated the Savior and His victory over death. A highlight of the conference was listening to the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Russell M. Nelson.
President Nelson shared, “In some parts of the world, people use a unique and special way of exchanging greetings on Easter morning. In their local language, the greeter will say, ‘Christ is risen!’ The greeted person then responds, ‘Truly! He is risen!'”
“These greetings explain why we celebrate Easter! Jesus the Christ came forth from the tomb as the first resurrected Being of our Heavenly Father’s children. His Resurrection assures our future Resurrection. He is our Savior and Redeemer. Humbly we strive to be His devout disciples. We love Easter!”
The prophet continued, “My call to you this Easter morning is to start today to increase your faith. Through your faith, Jesus Christ will increase your ability to move the mountains in your life, even though your personal challenges may loom as large as Mount Everest.”
“If everything and everyone else in the world whom you trust should fail, Jesus Christ and His Church will never fail you. The Lord never slumbers, nor does He sleep. He ‘is the same yesterday, today, and forever’ (Mormon 9:9). He will not forsake His covenants, His promises, or His love for His people. He works miracles today and He will work miracles tomorrow.”
Just as Christ’s disciples gathered when the word of His Resurrection spread, the gathering continues on this Easter Sunday as we celebrate our Savior’s victory over death and sin. This conference is still available to view at the ChurchofJesusChrist.org. May all feel the hope and joy that is abundant in the messages of Jesus Christ. Truly! He is risen.
